Limassol is known for its unique history as it was the city where the king of England Richard the Lionheart and his fiance Berengaria wed in 1191 after many twists and turns in their journey to the Holy Land. Furthermore, Berengaria was crowned the queen of England in Limassol.
From Limassol it is easy to visit the ancient city of Curium that dates back to 1200 BC. Near Curium there is also Petra tou Romiou, Afrodite’s birth place. Within the city you can visit the medieval castle and Kolossi castle.
